When moving into our house (exactly one year ago!), we didn’t really have a theme or look in mind when it came to designing and putting everything together. It was like we were too excited about having the new house that it slipped my mind at first – how? I don’t know! It’s a never ending task in our house now – trying to get the perfect pieces to make it come together. And of course, I’m always on the look out for inspiration. I love a modern and minimalistic feel – with calm colored walls and darker furniture.
I wanted to share with you some photos that I have gotten inspiration from…

This dining room pictured above has everything I love. The lighting fixture matches so well with the color of the room. I really enjoy the khaki/grey color of the walls and the way it compliments the white trim throughout the room. We also have white trim and moldings in the dining room, so I think a color and light fixture like these would go perfectly.

I am in love with the color scheme. Anything mint, white and black is sure to look amazing. My main inspiration from this picture is the lighting in the bathroom. I love the modernness of the fixtures – we desperately need new lighting in our bathrooms, and these may be the winner of what I want. Oh, and the thick black framed mirror. We have huge mirrors in our bathrooms like this one, and I think I could actually create frames like the one above for them.
Kitchen:

From the lighting, to the hanging pots, to the wall color. I can’t think of enough words to describe how much I love a grey kitchen with white, and guess what…that’s exactly what we’re going to have! This picture reminded me just how great this color combo goes together, and I have just the perfect paint picked out for our kitchen. I can’t wait to paint it and show everyone. I really enjoy the idea of having hanging pots, and this is awesome because it’s a light fixture and pot holder in one.
Living Room:

We also have white trim throughout the living room and this picture showed me how great a shade of blue will compliment the white trim. I think it will actually make the room look bigger and really make the molding and fireplace pop. Our living room is the first room you see/walk into when entering our home. I really want the final look of this room to be completely welcoming and calm. We’ve decided that (this week) we are going to paint it a powdery blue to go with the brown furniture.
Have a great week everyone!
Where did you get the shower curtain? This is the bathroom I have been looking for!
