XOXO Valentines Day Sign Wreath

Two days in a row of Valentines Day projects?! Have I gone insane? Probably.

I don’t know what it is this year, but something in me is wanting to create V-Day projects and I can’t control it. I have NEVER done a Valentines Day project (well, besides in school back in the day), and this year I am loving it. In reality these are the only two projects I’ve done so far, but I’m thinking our front door may need a big Valentines themed wreath, so that might be this weekends blog DIY. Tune in for that on Monday.

This one was a little more time consuming than the mini wreath, but it’s oh so cute to hang on your front door or in your entry way. I used thick card stock, almost like a poster board, for the letters so mine is on our enclosed front porch. If you choose to use wood, it could definitely be placed outside. You could totally use this in place of a wreath for the holiday.

Here’s what I used for this one…

Red tulle, I also ended up using another darker red tulle mixed in with this one that has glitter on it to give the bow a little more pop. I cute out squares on the card stock/poster board, and made the “XOXO” letters with my Cricut. If you don’t have a Cricut, you can get oversized letter stickers at a craft store or paint the letters on. They don’t need to be perfect. I ended up not using the big red ribbon, but I used lots of the heart ribbon as well as a red and white twine.

I used this burlap for the back of the sign to hold the letters on and ended up hating the black stripes on it. Definitely use plain burlap if you’re going for that look. I used the thin ribbon to hide the stripes between the letters, which you can see later on in this post on the close up picture.

To start out, I cut the burlap, and then rolled up a piece of card stock and glued around the rolled up card stock like so…

I did this because you’re going to put twine through the card stock to hang up the sign.

I hot glued the letters onto the burlap, and here’s where you can see the stripes on the burlap. At this point I was really wishing I had plain burlap, but I made do.

So to solve that problem I added in three rows of thin ribbon, the red and white stripes and the heart ribbon. It definitely hides the stripes pretty well.

I then put some twine through that first step on the burlap with the card stock loop to hang the sign, and then made a bow with my plain red and red with glitter tulle. I hot glued the bow to the twine, and added in a piece of the fake cranberry looking stuff I picked up at Christmas time at Michael’s. I thought it added the perfect touch!

And as you can see I painted the remaining black stripes on the burlap red because yes, it really bothered me that much lol.

And there you have it. I hope you liked this easy project! Would be fun to make with your little ones or all by yourself on one of these chilly Winter days we’ve been having. Is it Spring yet?!
