We recently DIYed some floating wooden shelves (the post will be up soon I promise!), and they turned out amazing! The hard part after putting up some shelves is making them look great with photos and little items that you think would look adorable displayed. I randomly went to Michael’s last week (who am I kidding, it wasn’t random), and came across these cute little wooden letters for $1.50! They’re actually really good letters for being less than $2, so I grabbed a “J”, which is for our last name…Ok, my future last name since we aren’t technically married yet, to put on one of our shelves. I thought I could easily paint it and give it a little makeover. This is so simple, but I thought I would still share just in case you come across a letter you love but aren’t feeling the color. You may even have one lying around your house somewhere! Well get it out and let’s get to decorating!
Here it is before anything was done to it…Would be adorable in a nursery as is!
I used a flat black spray paint on it and let it dry for a few hours…
I then got out my Martha Stewart foam pouncers and used some acrylic paint in white to create little dots all over the letter…I used the smallest sized pouncer.
And here it is on the shelf! I think it came out great! Gives a little pop to the shelf 🙂
Let me know if you create any wooden letter makeovers! I’d love to see what you do with yours 🙂
Like this easy as pie project? Awesome! Use the photo below to “Pin” it for later!
