So I must admit I follow Martha Stewart on Instagram. She actually posts some great project ideas! And last week I saw her post something about a new paint she has at Michael’s called Vintage Decor Paint. It has a matte chalk finish…LOVE. I needed it immediately. So I went to Michael’s and was surprised by the size of the bottles and the color selection. There were a bunch of colors and each bottle contains 8oz. I got the color Charcoal.
So of course I went home and tested it out. I plan on painting a cabinet in our dining room with this paint, but I wanted to test it first on a basket and some wooden bins. Check out what I did below…
I applied the paint with a sponge brush. Worked pretty nicely!
Thoughts on the paint on the basket: I love it! It actually looks like a matte stain. It’s a very cool, unique effect. Totally gave my basket some life!
Next up, these two wooden bins. Charlie picked these up one day at a craft store because we needed some bins to put mail in for a little organization. They’ve been looking a little boring, so I thought why not try out the paint on these too?!
I wanted to do something a little more exciting than just painting them a solid color, so I thought I’d try out stripes on 2 sides. For the alternating stripe colors, I did the charcoal paint and then I used some wood stain.
Thoughts on the paint on the bins…amazing! Seriously love how these turned out. I think using stain instead of leaving the other stripes plain wood made a huge difference. The vintage paint looks flawless on these bins. Can’t wait to put these in the dining room!
Have you tried out the vintage decor paint yet? What projects have you done?
