I’ve seen so many takes on this on Pinterest I’ve been dying to try out my own version!
Here’s the Fall “Welcome” side, so if you’d like to see how I made this just keep on reading 🙂
So I of course started out with a piece of plain wood from Lowe’s. This is about 4 feet long and 14″ wide. I got it for about $7.
Here’s what I used to “stain” the wood on just the Fall side. It’s a wax stain from Michael’s and it works so well. The dry time is unbelievably fast, and there’s barely any smell to it unlike normal wood stain.
Here’s the final side after two coats of the wax stain…
And here is what I used for the Winter side of the wood…a light grey pickling liquid also from Michael’s. This stuff is thin, but goes on really smooth and also dries quickly. I loved how easy it was to work with.
And after two coats…
I used my Cricut to create the vinyl letters and leaf, but a painted on stencil would work just as nice…
And here’s the Winter side…I added some snowflakes along with the “Welcome” and it turned out great!
