I wanted to start a new part of the blog where we discuss tips and tricks when it comes to decorating on a budget. We have SO many projects we want to tackle and things we want to buy for those projects, but in the end it all comes down to the moolah ($$).
We’ve realized since moving into the house the best ways to do projects are to do them yourself basically. Try to DIY everything you can. Obviously some projects require trained professionals, like when we needed new outlets and such we hired an electrician just because we’re kind of clueless about that. So every week I want to do new posts on how to renovate/decorate on a budget.
This week let’s discuss:
Where do you shop to find great deals? I think we’ve found some pretty good places and learned a few things in the past year. Great places to check out are:
- Home Goods (Our #1 choice)
- Target
- Goodwill (or any thrift shop)
- Ikea
- Walmart
- Michaels (For certain DIY supplies)
If you don’t want to shop in store, and only online, here’s some of my favorite online stores (some even give you credits for every friend you get to join!)
- Joss and Main – awesome deals on so many things for the home!
- CB2 – Modern furniture and home decor; and right now until November 11th they’re offering free shipping on most items!
- RueLaLa – this online store (and app for your phone) has boutiques that change weekly selling so many different things. Clothes, shoes, and of course home decor.
- Wayfair
- Zulily
When you shop online, be sure to check on Google, or on retailmenot.com for coupon codes for different websites. We’ve saved so much money on different sites using Retail Me Not, whether it be for free shipping or a certain amount off if you spend $50, $100, etc…
Also download apps on your phone to use in-store for coupons. Search “coupons” and download whichever looks best to you. I use coupons every time I go to stores like Michaels or fabric stores. I love going to Michaels (or any craft store), because they usually have 40% or 50% off an item coupons on the app I use. I love going to craft stores to find DIY supplies. If you’re looking to decorate your home for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, etc…go to a craft store! Look up project ideas on Pinterest and get your supplies for cheap. I guarantee you can easily (and cheaply) make a project yourself that looks like it came from Pottery Barn.
We hope you enjoyed some of today’s tips! Let me know any other online stores you may go to for discount home decor – we want to know!
