It’s done, it’s DONE! Ok, it’s actually been done since the beginning of July, but I’m just getting around to writing this post. It’s been one busy summer! So I last wrote about the porch floor, where we ripped out the carpet and used a porch paint on the floor. If you missed that post click here to catch up.
Here’s where we started with the porch:
Just fabulous, right?
I actually sanded down parts of the walls and spackled the hell out of them to cover any cracks. Then I painted. And it took a month. A lot longer than I thought, but definitely worth it. I used a Valspar exterior paint in white in case anyone is wondering.
I looked like this for a month straight.
You can really tell the color difference with these two pictures. Before the porch was a tan that just seemed dirty, and now it’s pure white. Much better!
And then it was finished and time to decorate! I almost die every time I look at the before and after.
My mom gave us a couple of her Adirondack chairs too to put in there. I gave them a coat of spray paint for plastic to brighten them up a bit.
We’ve had a lot of fun filling it with goodies we find. Found the anchor at an art shop and the seahorse was a gift from my mom from Home Goods! I LOVE seahorses.
The lantern was another gift from my mom. So cute and matches perfectly.
Got this bigger lantern at a TJmaxx, which is on our white table I sanded down and painted.
And seahorse cocktail napkins of course (Home Goods).
Lanterns! From Pier 1
This table used to be our dining room table when we first moved in. Since we have a new dining room table we decided to move this out here. Love it! Place mats from Home Goods.
Decorative seahorse vase, because why not?
Adorable plant stand from Target. Got this bad boy for less than $20!
And of course a seahorse light catcher. Can you tell I really like seahorses? I think I need a real one.
Oh, and our little cabinet I restored is on the porch too! Read here about how I turned an old dark wood cabinet into this masterpiece (with seahorse knobs, duh)
And there you have it! Our new and improved front porch that we’ve been seriously enjoying and eating dinner on every night. What summer projects did you get done this year?!
