I love mason jars, and I really don’t want them to ever go out of style. For real, I’m always thinking of mason jar projects and looking some up on Pinterest. I picked up a few on my last visit to Michael’s and wanted to do something for our mantel for Fall. So I decided on using four of the jars, painting them white, painted on a letter on each to spell “FALL”, and put some flowers in each. And ta-da! A Fall mantel project that looks like you bought it!
Check out how I did it:
I just used a regular foam brush and an off white colored paint. I did two coats of the paint.
I then sanded a bit of the paint on each to give the jars a bit of a vintage feel. They seemed a little too perfect when they were painted white, and it wasn’t the vibe I was going for.
A close up of one of the jars so you can see what I mean about sanding a little bit of them:
I used some brown Martha Stewart acrylic paint to paint on the letters. I free handed them, so they’re not perfect, but hey I also wasn’t aiming for perfect!
I don’t have them up for good on the mantel for the season yet since it’s still technically Summer, but once they’re up there the pictures in the frames behind them will be changed to their Fall photos. I love changing those up for the seasons.
And here they are outside with some brighter lighting. I love them! I can’t wait to get them back up and have everyone see them. I have them sitting on our front porch right now and I’ve already had some compliments on them! A super easy project that took me about 1 hour to complete (mostly was waiting for them to dry too!).
Have a great rest of your week! Let me know if you end up trying this out, I’d love to see!
